elementor-element-14ebf99 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"14ebf99\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Acute Sore Throat\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-93e51b4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"93e51b4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">For low-risk patients, use acetaminophen (first choice) or ibuprofen for pain. Oseltamivir is the first-line antiviral. Zanamivir is an alternative.\n\nIn otherwise healthy patients, antivirals are not recommended.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2e55a91 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2e55a91\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Scarlet Fever\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1429ce1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1429ce1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Prompt antibiotic therapy reduces risk of complications.\n\nPreferred antibiotics include penicillin VK (first choice) or clarithromycin (if penicillin allergy).<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cacdf37 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"cacdf37\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Sinusitis\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4d638aa elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4d638aa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Use acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain.\n\nDo not use antibiotics in patients with symptoms for 10 days or less. In patients with symptoms for more than 10 days with no improvement, use either no antibiotic or back-up antibiotic depending on likelihood of bacterial sinusitis. Consider high-dose nasal corticosteroid in patients older than 12 years.\n\nHigh-risk patients should receive immediate antibiotic therapy.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-561f289 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"561f289\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The preferred antibiotic is penicillin VK. In patients with a penicillin allergy, use clarithromycin (if \u226512 years), clarithromycin, or erythromycin (preferred if pregnant). Amoxicillin\/clavulanate is the second choice or first choice in high-risk patients.\n\n<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b9ec89d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b9ec89d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Community-Acquired Pneumonia\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1794476 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1794476\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Antibiotic therapy depends on CRB65 parameter score. Antibiotics for a score of zero include amoxicillin, clarithromycin, or doxycycline. Antibiotics for a score of 1-2 include amoxicillin plus either clarithromycin or doxycycline.\n\n<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-faee58b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"faee58b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Lower Urinary Tract Infection\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-add20a5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"add20a5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Advise acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain.\n\nIn nonpregnant women, prescribe antibiotic as a back-up or immediately. Preferred antibiotics include nitrofurantoin (first choice if estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] \u226545 mL\/min) or trimethoprim (low risk of resistance). Second-line choices include nitrofurantoin (if eGFR \u226545 mL\/min), pevmecillinam (not available in the United States), or fosfomycin.\n\nIn pregnant women, men, or children, prescribe an antibiotic immediately.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3eac051 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3eac051\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">In pregnant women, the preferred antibiotic is nitrofurantoin (avoid at term) if the eGFR \u226545 mL\/min. Second choices include amoxicillin or cephalexin.\n\nIn men, preferred antibiotics include trimethoprim or nitrofurantoin (if eGFR \u226545 mL\/min).\n\nIn children older than 3 months, first choices include trimethoprim or nitrofurantoin (if eGFR \u226545 mL\/min). Second-line agents include nitrofurantoin (if eGFR \u226545 mL\/min and not used as first choice), amoxicillin, or cephalexin.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ee8a199 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"ee8a199\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Acute Prostatitis\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7fc10ca elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"7fc10ca\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Advise acetaminophen (with or without a low-dose weak opioid) or ibuprofen for pain. Preferred antibiotics include ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, or trimethoprim.
