How not to treat SARS in children
90% of respiratory infections (upper respiratory tract infections) in children are viral in nature. It is important to know that influenza and SARS are not treated with:
- Antibiotics - they do not counteract viruses, as they are designed solely to fight bacterial infections. Misuse of antibiotics does not cure the disease and will only complicate the fight against the disease in the future. Antibiotics can be used only on prescription to treat complications of influenza such as pneumonia and bronchitis.
- Homeopathic remedies - there is no scientifically substantiated evidence of their effectiveness against influenza virus and SARS, so they are not recommended worldwide for the treatment of any life-threatening infections, including influenza. The use of drugs with unproven efficacy in such conditions is considered a sign of irresponsible attitude to the lives of patients.
- Folk remedies - treatment with exclusively folk remedies is ineffective and dangerous, as no herbal decoctions, teas and tinctures are effective against the flu virus. However, folk remedies can be used to alleviate the symptoms of the flu - provided they are used properly without abuse.
